(Dubai- mbc.net) The “Facebook Live Telethon” took place in February 2017 and was the first of its kind, running live over Facebook Live over a few hours in an informal settlement in one of the cold mountainous areas in Bekaa camp Lebanon raising donations live in real-time over the telephone, and with the results shared with the viewers in real-time.
This innovative approach connected refugees with the people who care most and it engaged over $1 million users during the 3-hour live period.
2018
The “Facebook Live Dafathon” in partnership with UNHCR was run on Thursday, January 25, 2018, throughout the day from the field, to raise donations live in real-time to support the winter emergency assistance to refugee families in the region. This campaign is part of the Basmet Amal umbrella.
Daftahon was led Raya AbiRached, MBC presenter and journalist, and was shared on 2 different mediums: Facebook, Instagram.
Dafathon Live has reached more than half a million people and managed to raise up till today over $25,000. These funds raised are enough to help around 552 families with fuel to heat their shelter till the end of winter.
