Director of Research

Job Responsibilities and Requirements

(mbc.net) RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with the director of marketing and reporting directly to the Group Director of Brand Management
  • Set research and analytics strategy across the Group to meet target business objectives and long-term business goals
  • Manage Broadcast and Digital Research, Analytics and Business Intelligence teams and oversee the execution of research projects; presents findings to appropriate audiences
  • Identify key future trends and market developments at both a regional and international level
  • Remain abreast of the latest research technologies, solutions and sources for both structured and unstructured data
  • Direct the development of strategic analyses and forecasts in the areas of content development, commercial opportunities, product innovation, market penetration and cross-platform content optimization
  • Be actively involved in new business efforts, market expansion initiatives and monetization strategies
  • Regularly test and validate traditional and new media measurement methodology and related metrics reporting
  • Collaborate effectively with Channel, Marketing, Planning, Digital, Brand, Corporate and other teams internal and external MBC teams and business partners
  • Contribute to development of thought leadership and innovative approaches to enhance the research products, integrating traditional and digital approaches, and primary research

   QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with both traditional and new media research
  • Experience in broadcast, media or television industry with either a media broadcaster, publisher or media research supplier
  • Extensive experience with site/mobile optimization, news/editorial and video/VOD website and content analysis
  • Good knowledge of analytics tools, techniques and systems and data management systems
  • Strong managerial and communication skills, ability to simply and communicate complex ideas
  • Ability to apply and communicate marketing research design and analytics in meaningful ways to the business and business owners
  • Knowledge of Big Data and technologies is a plus (machine learning, map/reduce, unstructured data schemes, Hadoop, etc.)
