Want $100,000 and a multi-page interior design spread in Elle Dcor magazine? Simple. Just be the last of twelve contestants standing after enduring ten increasingly difficult design assignments, running the gamut from eco-friendly office suites to breezy beach cabanas. Bravo's Top Design follows the successful model laid out in popular programs such as Project Runway and Top Chef.

Todd Oldham, formerly of MTV's House of Style, serves as host for the first season, with former model India Hicks moving into the role afterwards. Later, Oldham moves over to act as mentor to the contestants, giving guidance and encouragement, similar to the part played by Tim Gunn on Project Runway. The judging panel consists of style experts Jonathan Adler, Kelly Wearstler and Margaret Russell.

Early on, the contestants split into groups and work on their assignments in teams. As the season wears on and the numbers dwindle, the designers tackle the challenges on their own. There is also a Pop Design challenge, which is an opportunity for one contestant to win immunity and guarantee their safety for one week. The catch is that the challenge can come at any time during the program to upset the focus of the competitors. At the end of each episode, a contestant is eliminated, and sent off with the clever parting shot, see you later, decorator!
