Many viewers may already be familiar with MBCs adaptation of the reality show entitled, The Biggest Winner. From India to Australia eleven different variations of the program have aired in multiple countries, each one keeping its respective viewers glued to the screen.

MBC 4 is proud to present season one of The Biggest Loser UK, which follows in the tradition of clones before it. For those unfamiliar with the program here is a brief introduction. Twelve overweight individuals, male and female, of varying ages and weights have been selected to complete for 25,000 in cash. Whoever is able to shed the greatest number of pounds will be the lucky winner of the cash award.

The group of twelve is split into two teams: red and blue. Every week members of the teams are individually weighed; the team who has lost the most weight is deemed the winner. As for the losing team, they are forced to eliminate a teammate they believe to be the weakest link. Losing teams tend to eliminate the participant who has shown the least amount of effort in addition to progress.

However there are struggles along the way. Contestants are tempted to chow down on their favorites dishes, sleep through exercise sessions, or simply succumb to their own laziness. Professional trainers Mark Bailey and Angie Dowds oversee the blue and red teams respectively, using their years of fitness expertise to help participants reach their goals.

The Biggest Loser UK is not just about a cash award, nor is it merely for entertainment for some team members the opportunity lose pounds and develop an enhanced exercise and dietary plan might just save their lives.
