House (Hugh Laurie), a grumpy, anti-social medical doctor, who's both witty and arrogant, and unfortunately has a penchant for painkillers after a leg infarction almost cost him his right leg, and thus uses the aid of a cane.

House just happens to be a diagnostic medical genius, leading a team of doctors to help cure ordinary people that are very ill and suffering from unusual or obscure diseases. It's up to House and his team to pick up on the subtle clues and slippery symptoms to save these lives.

In fact, each episode plays much to the effect of a Sherlock Holmes mystery, as seemingly insignificant pieces start falling into place to save yet another, otherwise doomed, patient.

Season 6 starts off with House in a detox program at Mayfield Psychiatric Hospital, in an attempt to get the Vicodin out of his system and control the hallucinations caused by his painkillers. His practice comes under threat due to his use of drugs and throughout the season he has to battle to keep his right to do what he loves best- diagnose impossible cases.
