Greys Anatomy debuted in 2005 and received wide acclaim from audiences and critics alike, winning two Golden Globe awards and dozens of nominations.
The shows lead character, Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) is a surgical resident at the fictional Seattle Grace Hospital. The series title is not only derived from Merediths last name, but from a well-known nineteenth century medical book of the same title. Its cast of characters is comprised of medical interns who work under the apprenticeship of established physicians. While the interns mentors are officially there to guide them through their professional activities, their interests inevitably crossover into personal affairs as well, and romantic encounters are a frequent result.
Fans of the first three seasons will not be disappointed; the fourth season packs the same powerful drama and passion as those that preceded it. As always, the actors exhibit exceptional acting ability and rapport.
Faithful viewers will notice that the interns of past seasons have all gained their residency with the exception of George (T.R. Knight), who must go another round. Georges mingling with the hospitals new interns, coupled with his former colleagues becoming his superiors makes for attention-grabbing friction.
Season four also introduces us to Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh), Merediths long lost half sister as a regular character. While Lexie and Meredith share the same blood, they know next to nothing else about each other and remain distant. However, they are forced to work together when Lexie performs her first surgical procedure and requires her sisters assistance.
This season is not void of action and suspense. The crews skill and professionalism is tested multiple times as they treat victims of a massive explosion, a school bus crash, and an accident involving an ambulance that leaves its paramedics lingering between life and death in a two-part mid-series episode.
