Two Different Worlds Collide in Harmony Ba23at Al Wared:A Social Experiment in Love

The tale of an uneducated, unrefined girl and a phoneticist's attempt to integrate her into an aristocratic society.  Shaw's work poked fun at Britain's elite, who assumed poorer individuals were mentally deficient in some way, and subsequently unable to adopt supposedly 'proper' mannerisms.  When the phoneticist's formally crude pupil mingled amongst academics, politicians, and intellectuals unnoticed it substantiated his claim that class boundaries were largely superficial. 

Hasret (Tuba Büyüküstün) resides in one of Istanbul's poorest neighborhoods, where inhabitants live a happy and simple life despite apparent poverty.  To make ends meet she sells flowers alongside her sister, Gülnaz (Günay Karacaoğlu) at a busy downtown intersection.  At local weddings guests enjoy hearing her sing, while her brother Kadir (Umut Kurt) plays the Zurna, a Turkish horn. 

On the other side of town is Murat (Cansel Elçin) and his pal Levent (Onur Saylak); Murat is an esteemed musician and professor of music from a highly respected family.  Performers around the world are eager to work with him, though he is perpetually unimpressed by those who audition.  Murat rejects each vocalist that Levent locates, no matter how talented. 

Rather than continue their futile search for an ideal candidate, Murat decides to create one himself.  With professional training, he wagers that Hasret can be transformed into his ideal songstress.  Friends, family members, and colleagues are naturally baffled by his decision.  Improving Hasret's vocal prowess is a great undertaking by itself, but Murat's greatest challenge will be to accept his newfound love of a lowly flower girl.
