(mbc.net) Before Queen Victoria ascended the throne she was a relatively ordinary girl in her aspirations.

But those around the would-be queen were constantly battling for influence over the teenager, including her own mother.

Victoria was privy to their schemes, and rebelled against any agreements that would have lessened her inherited powers.

Her uncle, King Leopold of Belgium also hoped to wield some influence over Victoria, and summoned his son, Prince Albert to seduce her.

Their relationship strengthened after years of correspondence, and eventually transformed into genuine love.
