(mbc.net) An epic journey of the prophet who would change the face of the world as we know it- Muhammad [PBUH]. Director Moustapha El Akkad shot two versions; one in English starring Anthony Quinn as Hamza, the uncle of the prophet, and an Arabic version where Hamza is played by Abdullah Ghaith. The film follows the beginnings of Islam in Mecca, where muslims were persecuted for joining the 'new faith' of Muhammad Ibn Abdillah. As the torture and abuse of his tribe of Quraysh intensifies against the believers, Muhammad receives revelation that his followers are to migrate to Medina. He himself follows later accompanied by his companion Abu Bakr. How the people of Medina absorbed and accommodated their Islamic brethren who arrived with nothing by sharing everything, to the shaping steps of Islam without the threat of persecution in Medina, as well as the milestone battles of faith, mark the unique journey of an unrivalled persona, leading up to the prophet's victorious return to Mecca...
