A master's student travels to the US to defend his esteemed teacher from thugs.

Uncle Tak (Yuen Wah) is an elderly martial arts master who has instructed many students over the years.  He lives in Los Angeles where he manages and owns an herbal medicine shop.  A local gang member has beaten each master in the city, and now he wants to defeat Tak to prove his superiority.

That's when his former student, Jet (Jet Li) decides to travel to the US and defend his teacher.  Along the way Jet gains some new students of his own: The Barrio Boyz who were initially his foes.
