Fico Fellove owns El Tropico, a classy Havana nightclub in the late 50s, at a time when Cubans are growing weary of Batista's tyranny. But soon enough Cuba will split upon itself and in the storm that sees Fidel Castro assuming the reigns of power, the Cuba that Fico knew will have changed to a point that he has to leave to New York- if he wants his music to survive...
The Lost City is a snapshot of the last pre-Fidel days- though turbulent and troubled, still holding magic, warmth and charm.

A testament to the artistry which resides within Andy Garcia, He directs, co-produces, as well as performs the music for the film that is claimed by many Cubans to be a true depiction of the Havana they remember. Garcia himself left when he was 5. The Lost City is a snapshot of the last pre-Fidel days- though turbulent and troubled, still holding magic, warmth and charm.

Fico Fellove (Andy Garcia) owns El Tropico, a classy Havana nightclub in the late 50s, at a time when Cubans are growing weary of Batista's tyranny. Fico's heart is divided between his family and his music and art. But soon Cuba will split upon itself; between a democratic opposition to Batista, and communist rebel forces led by Castro and Che Guevara. The failed coup by the democratic opposition sees Fico's brother hunted down by Batista's secret police and killed. His widow (Ines Sastre) starts to fall in love with Fico, that is until Castro assumes power and names her Revolutionary Widow of the Year. Next time they will meet after Fico leaves Cuba is in a restaurant in New York, where she will be part of a Cuban delegation to the UN and he will simply be continuing to play his Cuban music.
