Independent director Gus Van Sant presents a shot-by-shot remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s infamous ‘Psycho’, based on Robert Bloch’s novel, which in turn was inspired by Wisconsin’s serial Killer Ed Gein…

Adapting only the setting to a contemporary timeframe, as well as dream sequences in the ‘shower scene’ Van Sant even utilizes Bernard Herrmann’s original score, adapted to stereo.

When Marion steals $400,000 from her employer to help her boyfriend pay off his debts, she finds herself stuck in Norman Bates motel due to a storm. Yet when Marion disappears her sister hires a private investigator to track her down, but he goes missing as well at the Bates motel, causing Marion’s sister and her employer to believe that the motel is at the center of all this confusion…
