Planet of the Apes

In 2029, when Leo's favorite chimp aboard the space station Oberon disappears along with his space pod during a probe of a coming electromagnetic storm, against orders Leo takes another pod to look for him and crashes on Planet Ashtar. On this planet intelligent, talking apes are the dominant species while humans are their slaves. Leo will reignite the human rebellion against the apes and discover Calima- the temple that holds the secrets of both species' ancestry...

(mbc.net) It's 2029. Leo (Mark Wahlberg) works with space-trained primates aboard the USAF space station Oberon. When his favorite chimp Pericles, who was sent to probe a coming electromagnetic storm, disappears along with his space pod, Leo takes a second pod against orders to go and search for him. Engulfed by the storm, Leo loses contact with the Oberon and crashes on a planet called Ashtar where, to his amazement, he finds that on this planet humanoid apes who can speak, rule and have enslaved the humans on the planet.

Leo then comes across Ari (Helena Bonham Carter), a chimpanzee who is sympathetic to the plight of humans and their mistreatment by the other apes. She purchases Leo and another human slave named Daena (Estella Warren), to work as servants in her father's house. When Leo escapes from his cage and releases the other prisoners he is seen by Ari and he tries to convince her to join the human rebellion against the apes. Hunting down the humans is General Thade (Tim Roth) and Colonel Attar (Michael Clarke Duncan) and an army of ape warriors who want to punish Leo and crush the human rebellion. But then Leo discovers Calima, a forbidden but holy site which the apes call the 'temple of Semos' in memory of the first ape, who they regard as their god. Yet what secrets does Calima hold regarding the ancestry of apes and humans that are waiting to be revealed?
