Although Winston Churchill is known by many as the man who defeated Hitler with extreme fervor, during World War II many Brits doubted the German ruler's true threat. Toward the end of the war Britain was in economic ruin, and despite Churchill's tactical brilliance, individuals needed an answer to their financial woes. He was not reelected as Prime Minister for a second term, and entered a temporary state of dormancy.
Brendan Gleeson portrays Churchill during this time, flashing back to some of the leader's less glamorous moments during the war, when lively speeches and decisiveness masked severe episodes of depression and doubt.
Into the Storm won two Primetime Emmys and was nominated for an astonishing 12 others. The movie was also nominated for three Golden Globes.
