Inner-city homicide detective Bobby Gold (Joe Mantegna) is a non-practicing Jew. Bobby is also on the hunt for a drug-dealer, cop-killer Robert Randolph (Ving Rhames) on the FBI's Most Wanted List. As he heads out to nab an associate of the killer along with his tough partner Tim (William H. Macy), he stumbles upon a murder scene where an elderly Jewish lady is gunned down in her candy store in a black ghetto. With Bobby being Jewish himself, the woman's son pulls some strings to get Bobby to handle his mother's murder investigation. This of course rubs Bobby the wrong way as he has to sacrifice the high-profile cop-killer case to attend to this homicide. But Bobby will soon uncover a Zionist plot operating in his city and that will rattle his whole sense of identity.
