Clint Eastwood’s second directorial outing from 1973 is considered a classic and was both critically acclaimed and a box office success. Riding into the town of Lago, the Stranger (Clint Eastwood) lets his presence be known by killing the three hired-guns who attempt to insult him, then raping Callie when she slaps him. Years before, the town Marshall Jim Duncan (Buddy Van Horn) was bullwhipped to death by another set of three hired-guns when he found out that the town’s mining company was illegal and set up on government land. The town leaders conspired against him and paid the three gunmen to do their dirty deed. Yet after Duncan’s killing, the three are framed for gold theft by the town leaders.

The very same day the Stranger rides into Lago, the three ex-hired guns; Stacey Bridges and his cousins Dan and Cole Carlin, are set to be released from jail, and are surely bent on getting their revenge from the town and its leaders. But with the current three hired-guns killed by the Stranger, the Sheriff begs the Stranger to defend them against the 3 ex-cons…
