Peter De Anda portrays Frank Cutter, a Chicago detective searching for a missing professional quarterback. As his investigation proceeds Cutter discovers that the football player's disappearance is merely one piece of a much more elaborate conspiracy.
The movie is among the first to feature an African-American detective in its lead, predating the popular Shaft series of films by more than a year. It is a rare gem in the Blaxploitation genre. Pioneering entertainer Stepin Fetchit also appears in the film, the first black actor to receive proper screen credit or reach millionaire status.
