Rich Bower (Oliver 'Power' Grant) is the center of the rap and hip-hop scene, with some licit and illicit undertakings on the side. His crib is the hangout for the hip musicians, the hipsters who want to seem cool, including the cliché of white kids.

Sam (Brooke Shields), a filmmaker is mesmerized by the scene and is making a documentary about it with the help of her husband Terry (Robert Downey Jr.).

When Rich's childhood friend Dean (Allan Huston) is asked to throw away some basketball games by a cop (Ben Stiller), Rich realizes Dean may roll over on him to stay out of jail, so he asks some white kid- who just happens to be the son of the D.A.- to kill him and prove himself.
