After losing big to their bookie, college students Toby (Nick Stahl), Casey (Lukas Haas), and Jude (Johnny Galecki) form their own gambling racket. With help from Toby's unsuspecting love interest, Hunter (Rachael Leigh Cook) the guys gain access to the school's top athletes and wealthiest fraternity members. Students are attracted to the trio's unique betting system, and pleased to sidestep dealings with local Mafia goons. The business is lucrative beyond the group's expectations, prompting tech-wiz Casey to program elaborate bookkeeping software and purchase expensive computer equipment. Meanwhile, Jude devises a creative payoff and debt collection system within the school's library, where he is conveniently employed. Unwelcome eyes begin to focus on the boys' operation however, including a peeved mob boss threatened by dwindling profits and the startup's continuously expanding territory. Local authorities are also taking notice, especially as Jude's reckless spending, drug addiction, and loose lips jeopardize both the business and its proprietors' freedom. Soundtrack features performances by the Dub Pistols, Ryan Adams, Curve and many more. Rating: Rated R for explicit language and drug use.
