Susan Clark portrays pioneering female aviatrix Amelia Earhart, the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. The film follows the pilot's life in a linear fashion, documentingEarhart's birth in 1867, her foray into aviation, marriage to publishing mogul George Palmer Putnam (John Forsythe), and eventual disappearance above the central Pacific Ocean while attempting to circumnavigate the world.
The picture takes no time to speculate upon Earhart's ultimate fate or the cause of her disappearance, but instead strives to familiarize viewers with the navigator's accomplishments both inside and outside the cockpit asan author, women's rights advocate, and an academic.
Amelia Earhart was nominated for three Emmys and a Golden Globe.
