Hamida falls in love with the barber of the area Abbas Al Helou who is ready to do anything for her. His desire to win her love pushes him to go and work at one of the British military camps in order to make enough money to be able to get married to Hamida. Faraj comes on the scene to seduce Hamida to come with him and leave the quarter all the while promising to marry her.
