After going AWOL and living with the natives on an island in the Pacific, the film’s narrator, Private Witt, is recaptured and forced to rejoin his company before battle. Led by a foolhardy, bloodthirsty Lt. Col. Tall, the men landing on the island are ordered to overcome the Japanese stronghold at the top of the hill, where the Japanese are fortified in bunkers with machine guns ready to rip anything starting up the hill…
