A World War II period Romance, produced and directed by esteemed working team of Ismail Merchant and James Ivory respectively, the film went on the garner 8 nominations for the Oscars awards that year. Staring an impeccable Anthony Hopkins as Stevens the Butler in an aristocratic British household of 1930s, who scarified everything in life for his master Lord Darlington (James Fox), even his own emotions prompting him to wear a cold sever mask as his everyday face. When new housekeeper Miss Sarah (Emma Thompson) tries to break into his façade, she is faced with stern cold rejections. But when his Master dies, something seems to be awaked in his heart, and now the Butler will try to salvage what remains of his days…
