Three middle-aged security guards are devastated when they learn that a number of pieces are being shipped to another museum in Copenhagen, Denmark. Each of the guards: Roger (Christopher Walken), Charles (Morgan Freeman) and George (William H. Macy), has a certain piece that they relate to and their lives would no longer be complete if they cannot spend time with these works of art.

Roger has ‘The Lonely Maiden’, a painting of a beautiful woman looking out into the distance with a measure of melancholy; Charles is obsessed with a painting on another floor of a woman with cats; George’s object of obsession is a nude Greek warrior sculpture, which he often strips down and faces on his night shift.

So the three plan to steal the pieces after replacing them with forgeries- Charles, a painter, manages to capture the ‘woman with cats’ perfectly, but cannot quite capture the essence of ‘The Lonely Maiden’, so they have to resort to a pro (Breckin Meyer) to replicate the work of art, and someone to create a replica of George’s statue. Roger uses the money he and his wife Rose (Marcia Gay Harden) had set aside for a trip to Florida, to pay for the replicas. Can three aging security-guards who shared nothing prior to this, manage this intricate heist?
