In an alternative universe where every single human being tells the truth, Mark is a screenwriter who stumbles upon the concept of lying and making stuff up. It begins with lying at the bank as to how much money was in his account, to telling a woman that the world would end if they didn’t get together, to stopping his neighbor Frank from committing suicide. Throughout, Mark discovers that he can use his invention to do good too, as he’s inspired to when he finds his mom terrified on her deathbed of the void that would follow and describes a beautiful ‘heaven’. The doctors and nurses present then share mark’s descriptions in awe. When more of the well-intended people overhear his claims and inventions and pass them along as truths, it isn’t long before they regard Mark as a prophet with an open line to the Man in the Sky…
