Wars are horrible times, filled with hate and blood and suffering. However, Love still prevails in those times, and when it happens it’s always reassuring, even if only for those ho lives through it. Shanghai, is a gorgeously shot and designed period drama, set to the backdrop of WWII, and revolves around an ex-pat who return to his Japanese occupied Shanghai, only to be shocked by the mysterious murder of his friend. While trying to investigate the details surrounding his friend assassination, Love makes a welcome appearance to appease such suffocating terms. However, new revelations and discoveries make him realize that he is up to a much greater secret that a simple murder.

A sumptuous period drama, sparkled with light breezy Romance, strengthened by an endearing and gripping crime investigation, the whole package made tenser by the impending doom and oppressive ambiance of death and war. Grab your fedora, and jump in.
