Raising Helen is a comedy about a high flying top fashion executive living the luxurious life in Manhattan who faces a life choice between glamour and family when sudden tragedy strikes.

The endearing Kate Hudson plays Helen Harris whos older sister Lindsay and brother-in-law die in a tragic car accident and Helen is unexpectedly given custody of Lindsays three young children.

Both Helen and her sister Jenny are shocked by their deceased sisters decision. The two sisters are complete opposites: while Helen loves partying all night, dressing in provocative clothing and attending runway shows, Jenny is a straight-laced mom with a tidy, orderly and loving household.

Despite Helens inexperience as a mother, she decides to honor her sisters wishes and take responsibility of the kids. Initially she approaches her duty haphazardly, continuing to live her life as before but unfortunately, fashion and motherhood clash and the kids are not particularly welcome guests at Helens runway events.

Yet with time Helen starts to bond with the children and begins transforming her party girl lifestyle into a domestic one. Although Helen attempts to juggle both lifestyles, she becomes overwhelmed and eventually loses her Manhattan job.

Forced to leave her life of luxury behind, she relocates to an inexpensive section of Queens, New York where she obtains employment at a car dealership. Meanwhile, her friendly Indian neighbor, Nilma Prasad, gives Helen some valuable lessons in motherhood and lends a helping hand whenever possible.

Helen begins to realize that stages and lights are not what matter in life and even finds love in an unexpected place with a formally unlikely candidate. But can Helen truly give up her lifelong dream of fashion for the role of a housewife?
