The creator of Moonstruck (1987) and Other Peoples Money (1991) delivers 1994s Only You, a dramedy featuring What Women Want (2000) star Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey, Jr. most recently of Iron Man (2008) notoriety.

Tomei depicts Faith Corvatch, a recently engaged Pittsburgh schoolteacher who, despite her premonitions, believes she has finally discovered Mr. Right a podiatrist named Dwayne (John Benjamin Hickey). The film begins on the eve of her wedding night as last minute adjustments are made to her gown. Suddenly the phone rings and the caller, identifying himself as a former schoolmate asks for Dwayne.

Yet Dwayne is not there and the caller leaves his name, Damon Bradley, noting that he just wanted to say hello before departing for Venice, Italy. Immediately, Faith remembers a childhood game of Ouija with brother Larry (Fisher Stevens); that night she asked the board who her future husband would be, to which the reply was Damon Bradley. This by itself may have been coincidence, so Faith was not convinced. However, she would later visit a fortuneteller and ask the same question, and to her bewilderment receive the same reply: Damon Bradley.

So throughout Faiths childhood, teenage years, and young adulthood she awaited her prophesized eternal partner. Sadly, no man with the name Damon appeared at least not until her wedding night.

Immediately after the phone call the bride rushes out the door and to the airport, desperate to meet her mystery man before his departure to Italy. She is accompanied by her sister-in-law, Kate (Bonnie Hunt) who begs Faith to forget 12-year-old games of Ouija and visits to fortunetellers. Nevertheless Kates pleas are ignored and Faith moves at top speed to the airport, claiming that she only wants to meet Damon, and nothing more.

The two ladies arrive at the airport and, of course, miss Damons flight. The solution? Both girls will take the next available plane to Venice, and track down the supposed man of Faiths destiny. Once in Venice Faith and Kate believe they are hot on the mystery mans trail and seem to have found Damon, which then leads to a night of romance. Meanwhile, poor Dwayne remains in the United States, confused, and unaware of where his fianc has gone.

Naturally, a happy ending at this point would be too easy. In the midst of passion Damon reveals that his real name is Peter Wright (Downey); Faith is furious and demands an explanation. Peter expresses how much he loves his new acquaintance and that he meant no harm; besides, if there is chemistry between both individuals what is the problem? Unfortunately for Peter the young woman held onto her superstitions, regardless of her feelings toward the him.

Realizing that his only chance of drawing near Faith is by helping her find the true Damon, Peter travels with her throughout Italy in search of the man. Along the way she will encounter a false positive and realize the importance of listening to ones heart.

Only You is rated PG with a runtime of 115 minutes.
