David Bowie stars in this very unusual fantasy drama, where magic and reality are all treated the same way. Blurring the lines. Owen (Bill Sweitzer) a terminally ill boy, who along with his other sick friends, look like normal preteens; However, their difference, is their short life expectancy. But the rest is the same. They have the same fears, concerns, and preoccupations any boy would feel.
Owen has an unusual relation with his mysterious old eccentric neighbor, Mr. Rice (David Bowie); who is introducing Owen, to all sorts of new things, like Philosophy, and esoteric ideas. However, Mr. Rice suddenly dies, leaving behind what Owen believes it to be a map for a Treasure. So he goes on the hunt, with his friends, following the clues left for him. What he will find is much greater that anything he would have imagined.
