One of the best mob films ever, the Coen brothers’ masterpiece is brutally honest with its depiction of the life of crime in the prohibition-era. Tom Reagan (Gabriel Byrne) is the right-hand man for Leo (Albert Finney), the Irish king of the way things are in this police-corrupt city.

When another local gangster, Johnny Caspar (Jon Polito), pleads with Leo to let him kill a bookie, Bernie (John Turturro) that is exposing his fixed fights, Leo refuses. Tom, in the meantime, tells him to let Caspar have him. But Leo can’t let Caspar kill the brother of his lover- Verna Bernbaum (Marcia Gay Harden), who Tom is bedding as well at the moment.

What follows in this strongly-scripted, blink-and-its-gone story, is the stuff of legends. Regarded as one of the best films to come out of the 90s, Miller’s Crossing may not be for the faint of heart, but it is definitely not one to be missed…
