In 1963 Secret Service agent Frank Horrigan (Clint Eastwood) was part of President Kennedy's security detail. His failure to save the president's life has haunted him for 30 years, and a discharged CIA agent realizes it. A man who calls himself Booth (John Malkovich) taunts Horrigan, and promises to disgrace the agent a second time.
The president's staff make Horrigan's job difficult, ignoring his recommendations to alter their itinerary, and underestimate the severity of Booth's threat. Even other agents begin to doubt Frank, who believethat he is overacting due to his inability to save Kennedy three decades earlier.
In the Line of Fire earned 3 Oscar nominations in addition to a Golden Globe and MTV Movie Award nomination. The picture grossed an impressive $176 million internationally.
