Michael Newman is a hard working family man aspiring to become an extremely successful architect and doing anything to please his boss in a bid to get that long over due promotion.

Michael, however, has been neglecting his family in favor of his career and it is starting to cause problems at home, prompting Michael to make a random wish for a remote which can help him control his life.

This soon comes true for Newman, when he meets Morty, a crazy sales clerk, who has the ultimate remote.

The remote allows Michael to perform all kinds of functions in his life, including pausing, muting, fast-forwarding and dubbing. Michael quickly takes advantage of the remote and manages to fast-forward every argument, skip to his promotion and mute any conversations he doesnt like.

At first the remote seems like a good idea but when the remote begins creating its own memory and choosing what to fast-forward over, Michael sees how much of his personal life has passed him by and realizes the importance of spending more time with his family, even if that time includes stress and arguments.

This movie is rated PG-13 for language, crude and sex-related humor, and some drug references.
