Book of Love is the story Elaine and David Walker a thirty-something married couple whose relationship, romantically speaking, has come to a halt. Both individuals have realized that, for better or for worse, they are destined to spend the rest of their lives together no matter how dreadfully boring. The couple is still in love, but there is something missing in their lives: a child!

Thats when a lanky, awkward looking teenage boy enters the picture. Chet Becker is a nerdy kid working at a local ice cream parlor. Elaine and David stop by the parlor for some dessert and debate their youthful, or not so youthful, appearances.

Eventually the couple asks Chet to guess their true ages, and oddly enough a relationship begins to develop from there. From this point forward the fifteen year old becomes the Walkers unofficial surrogate child.

Yet astute viewers will observe Elaines interactions with Chet during their initial meeting. Far from motherly, she was clearly giving Chet a look over and subconscious seal of approval. As the young man spends more time at the couples house Elaine makes her feeling more apparent, and Chet has no problem responding to them. In fact, he has no problem making love to a woman twice his age and neither does Elaine for that matter.

David on the other hand may not be so understanding. In a fit of guilt Elaine eventually reveals her affair to her husband, begging him to forgive her.

What happens between David and Elaine? How does Chet, a loner whose only friends are the Walkers proceed? Book of Love is unique in that the answer to these questions may not be predictable as one might imagine. In fact, the results of Elaines revelation are occasionally downright unrealistic and strange, making for a great story.

Book of Love was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at 2004s Sundance Film Festival.

It is rated R for sexual content and language.
