Jon Heder plays Chazzs antagonist, the effeminate and germophobic Jimmy MacElroy. Both Chazz and Jimmy are banned from professional ice-skating after the two break out in a fight during an awards ceremony.

For the years following the incident Chazz performed at childrens events, though after succumbing to obesity and alcoholism he was fired. Jimmys interim job at a sporting goods stores footwear department was no more glamorous, especially after a brats complaint relegated him to the stockroom.

Fortunately, every cloud has a silver lining; in Jimmys case it was an obsessed fan named Hector (Nick Swardson), who stalked the former skater until finding him at work. Desperate to see Jimmy back on the ice, Hector studied the competitions rules; while Jimmy could never participate individually, he could compete as a pair skater and so he began searching for a female partner.

Jimmy immediately gets in touch with Robert, his former coach played by Craig T. Nelson. Coach Robert searches for a partner to no avail, as Jimmy realizes competition rules do not specify that a pair must be male and female.

With that in mind he contacts his longtime rival, Chazz, hoping that both men could revive their careers by skating together. Hungry to skate again, Chazz agrees and preparation for the event begins.

With Coach Roberts help the duo begins training, and struggles to overcome their past differences, in addition to their individual weaknesses. Much more difficult trouble lies ahead, however, as rival skaters attempt to sabotage their comeback, eavesdropping on their practice sessions and even eventually kidnapping Chazz and Jimmy. Professional skatings Odd Couple must cooperate not just to win, but also to survive.

The pictures soundtrack features a fitting array of motivational and sports-themed music including tracks by Queen, Marky Mark, Aerosmith, and Foreigner. Blades of Glory won a Teen Choice Award and was nominated in five additional categories; it also garnered three MTV Movie Award nominations.

Blades of Glory is rated PG-13 for crude and sexual humor, harsh language, comic violence, and some drug references.
