(mbc.net) While trying to extinguish a fire in Southern L.A., the racist father (William Russ) of Derek (Edward Norton) and Danny (Edward Furlong) is shot and killed by a black drug dealer. Not long after their father is killed, Derek joins a Neo-Nazi movement and becomes the second-in-command of white supremacist street gang dubbed 'Disciples of Christ'. Derek lands himself in jail when he kills two black gang members who were trying to steal the pick-up his dad left him.
Derek goes through so much in prison that changes his views; he notices that the Aryan Brotherhood have intimate dealings with a Mexican prison gang member and are trafficking narcotics to other whites- things that Derek views as a corruption to the purity of the white power ideals and slogans that he has lived by. When Derek criticizes their actions, the Brotherhood violently beat and rape him in the showers and while recovering he is visited by his old black English high school teacher, Dr. Bob Sweeney (Avery Brooks), who helps Derek get a parole hearing and supplies him with books to help him pass time. Derek is also troubled to learn from Sweeney that his brother Danny is following in his footsteps...
