It's Not Just About Football, It's About Pride Inside! Not Your Usual Suspects

A soccer star jailed for assault leads a group of inmates in a match against prison guards.

A soccer star jailed for assault leads a group of inmates in a match against prison guards.

Danny Meehan was the former captain of Englands national soccer team until officials discovered that he rigged a game between his home country and Germany.

Things get worse when Meehan assaults two police officers while intoxicated and lands himself a three year prison bid.

Upon arrival his fellow inmates treat him the same, or perhaps worse than any other incoming criminal; disgracing his country in the international sports arena couldnt have helped either.

Yet in the eyes of the prisons warden, depicted by bushy eye-browed David Hemmings, Meehan still has star potential. The warden requests the ex-captain to work as a coach for the prison guards soccer team a favor Meehan rejects.

Instead, he offers to organize a team comprised of the institutions prisoners, who will in turn compete with the guards in a match. The warden agrees and the former soccer celebrity is back on the field once again.

Prison drug and weapon dealer Massive is Meehans prison buddy alongside cellblock veteran Doc. The star player of the prison team is none other than Monk, one of the prisons most violent inmates.

Yet that does not deter the new coach who views this as not just a simple game of soccer, but a chance for prisoners to increase their confidence and gain a victory of the persistently abusive guards.

All is well until the warden insists that Meehan fix the match so that his staff will win or else. Will the shamed ex-captain redeem himself or follow in his dishonest footsteps? What is more important, his fellow inmates morale, or to be chummy with the prison administration?

This movie is rated R due to its language and violent content.
