The Chronicles of Riddick is a sci-fi action film that follows the events of the titular character after the film Pitch Black. Riddick is now being chased by a bounty hunter while slowly learning that he has a huge role to play in the balance of the universe. Action star Vin Diesel returns once again in as the main character (also co-producing the film). Nick Chinlund stars as bounty hunter Toombs. Dame Judi Dench stars as Aereon, a priestess and member of the Elementals. Colm Feore plays Lord Marshal and Keith David is the Imam. The film was directed by David Twohy. Five years on, we follow up with the Furian renegade Riddick as he has another bounty on his head. The times when he manages to escape from his mercenary captors, he's plunged into an epic-scale war waged by the Necromongers – a fascist master race led by Lord Marshal who are determined to convert or kill all in their quest for the Underverse, the appeal of which is a mystery. Riddick finds some comfort in reuniting with his old friend Jack, who now calls herself Kyra, though not without some harsh words for leaving her and Imam back on New Mecca. The two must unite their forces to get off Crematoria before the Necromongers can catch them. However, they’re going to have to work their way around Crematoria’s daily cycle which fluctuates between scorching heat during the day and bitingly cold nights. The film was nominated for two Saturn Awards. It was released in June 2004. Rated PG-13 for intense violent action sequences and some language
