Amitabh Bachchan plays Surya, a bitter man and an ex Army officer who’s hired by a friend to protect a young girl residing in Bangkok, Thailand with her nonresident Indian parents. Surya accepts the job, but is very detached and show little compassion towards the girl and spend his days drinking; Eventually the young girls is wining him over, and soon a friendship is building even Surya helps her train for her swim meet. But disaster struck when the girl is kidnapped, and her father is unable to pay the ransom demanded by the kidnapers. Surya takes it to heart to find the girl and goes on the hunt, with very little evidence or any viable leads. However, very soon he is plunged in the midst of swirling affair and suspects a wider conspiracy behind the kidnapping.

A tight and suspenseful crime Thriller, the film was a loose remake of the American Film (Man on Fire) with a very different climax and payoff.
