A remake of the Classic 1951 sci-fi film of the same name, the action kicks in with an alien craft arriving in New York city; on board is a man, with human features and body, along with his sidekick a giant and powerful robot. He presents him self as Klaatu (Keanu Reeves), and that his mission is a peaceful one. He is here to save us. However, the authorities are very skeptic, and decide to subject the man, to intensive interrogation technics. One doctor, start doubting the procedure and trusting the man more and more. Shortly after, she helps him flee the facility. Slowly she is getting what he meant by, “Saving”, the planet. And it’s not what you’d expect.

A thinking superior Sci-Fi, an environmental fable disguised as a thriller sci-fi; however, serious issues are meant to be addressed. The new version, replaces, the nuclear fear of the cold war era of the original, by more contemporary issues, those of the failing and ailing environment. A must watch.
