Hawaii Five-0- Season 2
With no state police department, a special force oversees the Hawaiian Islands, protecting America from international and local terror.
Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin) is a former Navy SEAL who, like his father four decades ago, heads a secretive law enforcement agency. With permission from the state's governor, McGarrett and his team take any means necessary to protect Hawaii, the country, and even the world from danger.
He is accompanied by a few familiar faces. Detective Danny 'Danno' Williams (Scott Caan) is a Newark, New Jersey native transplanted to Honolulu. Chin Ho Kelly (Daniel Dae Kim) also returns, a shamed ex-police officer turned detective determined to redeem himself after false accusations of corruption. Detective Kono Kalakaua (Grace Park) is a new addition, a recent police academy graduate and avid surfer.
True to its late 60s predecessor, Hawaii Five-O's twenty-first century interpretation retains the action, shootouts, car chases, and beautiful scenery that made the original so appealing. Each week McGarrett and his crew are assigned a new mystery, while delving deeper into the island's organized crime syndicates and its associated police corruption.
This season two new members join the cast: medical examiner Max Bergman (Masi Oka) and special agent Lori Weston (Lauren German). The season opener begins where season one left off, with McGarrett suspected of Governor Jameson's (Jean Smart) death; fortunately, an acquaintance of Danny may be able to exonerate the lieutenant. Meanwhile, Weston is added to the force by the new governor's request to ensure it follows proper procedure.
Critical response and viewer ratings have been exceptionally positive, earning the program an Emmy, Golden Globe, and Teen Choice Award nomination. The show's soundtrack has been recreated without excessive modern influence, and includes both classic and contemporary artists like Bob Dylan, the Goo Goo Dolls, Ziggy Marley, and Jimmy Cliff. Currently in its second season, Hawaii 5-0 has a bright future ahead of it.
