Hold on or Levitate? Amazing magic tricks in the magician Criss Angel show

Houdini was an expert at making his tricks look dangerous, but Criss Angel, illusionist, mentalist, escapologist, and musician does things that are dangerous. Angel says that its a new era for magic when it is no longer just about a cool card trick. Its about pushing boundaries, and in his show, where your mind jumps back and forth in excitement between reality and illusion, Criss takes you through a journey of pushing his own personal boundaries.

Each episode leads up to a big "trick by following the intense preparation necessary to pull it off. Interspersed throughout the episode are interview clips of other magicians and behind the scenes people who comment on the undertaking at hand. Although the pragmatic portion of the brain knows he will be ultimately successful (It isnt Worlds Most Amazing Videos after all) still one cannot help but be caught up in the building suspense.

Leading up to the highlighted stunt/illusion is a series of smaller, though perhaps equally entertaining, street magic tricks he performs on couples and crowds. These range from having people take off their hats to only find their biggest fears right where their head was, making a volunteers chosen card levitate from a deck spread across a mall floor, and conjuring a cell phone inside a beer bottle. Some of his more major tricks involve walking on water, making people on the street levitate, vanishing and reappearing, and several more mind-boggling stunts.

What makes this show particularly interesting is that it is a good break for anyone not a huge fan of other reality TV shows. Besides transcending the laws of physics in our brains, Criss is willing to take us on a ride into his inner quantum world when he analyzes what he can do, and how he can do it, developing an all too real human link with him and the connection he has with his own work.

In response to how he does his stunts, he has only declared not to have any kind of paranormal powers.
