Even Stars Can Fall From Grace Celebrity Rehab: 8 Addicts Struggle to Overcome Addiction

It is no secret that Hollywood has been plagued with drug and alcohol abuse almost since its inception. The stresses of entertaining millions on command is no easy feat. Actors and musicians who rise to fame soon have access to not only the prettiest women, fanciest cars, and most luxurious homes, but also the hardest and most expensive drugs. Drug abuse has taken the lives of countless talented celebrities over the years, most recently and notably that of Michael Jackson.

Celebrity Rehab is an attempt to prevent similar tragedies before they occur. In it eight drug-addicted celebs gather under one roof for 21 days. With the help of Dr. Drew, his counselors, and each other they will quit drugs cold turkey. Participants will also discuss the underlying causes of their addictions, and how to modify their lifestyles accordingly. Viewers will often discover that intoxicants are merely masking other deep-rooted problems, and with the help of Dr. Drew perhaps these entertainers will unearth them.

Cameras follow cast members throughout their day, documenting group sessions and their occasionally heated interactions amongst one another. When cameramen are asleep, mounted cams monitor each of the houses rooms. The exception to this rule is the bathroom, where hidden microphones occasionally capture the sounds of drug use.

Naturally there is no guarantee that participants will continue their sobriety after the 21 days end. In some cases cast members will even relapse while in treatment. Still, the ups and downs of their rehabilitation warn viewers about the social, emotional, and physical dangers of substance abuse. After completing the program some participants will proceed to Celebrity Rehabs spin-off show, Sobriety House, where rehabilitated stars strive to remain completely drug free.

This season of Celebrity Rehab features Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler, civil rights personality Rodney King, actor Jeff Conaway, actress Tawny Kitaen, model Amber Smith, Sean Stewart son of Rod Stewart, singer Nikki McKibbin, and actor Gary Busey.
