The Most Remarkable Achievements of MBC Hope in 2 years

MBC Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility program “MBC Hope” has been working in the field to prove the truth of its slogan: “We see hope everywhere”.

MBC Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility program “MBC Hope” has been working in the field to prove the truth of its slogan: “We see hope everywhere”. It has been 2 years since the launch of “MBC Hope”, and it’s so essential now to get to know the most important achievements that were done through “hope” which is created and distributed by “MBC Al Amal” along this period.

"MBC Hope" focuses on 3 areas: Education, Environment, and Sport; here is a list with the most remarkable achievements along 2 years:

  • Doing Good Competition

The ‘Doing Good' Competition is a podium where Arab youth participants with creative initiatives and visions can present proposals, theoretical analyses and feasibility studies to their conceived projects, in order to select the winners in each of the four categories: humanitarian causes, social entrepreneurship and startup companies, innovation and creativity, environment and energy.

The first competition was launched successfully in September of 2013, and the 2nd annual competition was launched once again in 2014.

  • Tweet to Donate Campaign

The "Tweet to Donate" campaign was under the auspices of "MBC Hope" and fields the concept of monetizing and channeling tweets into real and valuable aid directed towards humanitarian causes".

“MBC Al Amal’s 2013 T2D campaign gathered public tweets whereby every free public tweet, MBC Al Amal matched it with 1SR.

The latter went toward impacting the community through NGOs: SANAD Children’s Cancer Support Society in Saudi Arabia, United Nations World Food Program (WFP) in Egypt, and Al Noor Centre for Children with Special Needs in the UAE.

  • 2014 Ramadan Campaign

MBC Hope 2014 Ramadan Campaign, “Syrian’s Without an Address” was a campaign in cooperation with WFP to help displaced Syrians.

This campaign was launched with the aim of raising awareness on their current situation and providing food aid to millions of Syrian citizens affected and displaced as a result of the Syrian crisis whether in Syria or its neighboring countries.

Over the days of the holy month of Ramadan, MBC showcased 30 short film documentaries across our television screens and diverse, interactive platforms addressing 30 humanitarian cases in order to open the doors to those willing to lend a helping hand.

  • Stars On Board - MBC Hope Auction

In August 2014, MBC Hope joined with Stars on Board to host a charity auction on board the cruise. Each celebrity donated one personal item of theirs which was showcased and auctioned. It was decided that all proceeds would go to the children of Gaza through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).

The event was to a major success and through auction bids as well as generous donations from the public on board; a sum of $ 500,000 (US Dollars Five Hundred Thousand) was raised.

  • Global Entrepreneurship Summit – GES2014 - Expand Your Horizon Launch

MBC Hope partnered up with INJAZ Al-Arab, the regional office of Junior Achievement Worldwide, to launch “Expand Your Horizon - “EYH” during the 5th “Global Entrepreneurship Summit - GES2014” that was held in Marrakech.

Established as an initiative to curb youth unemployment in MENA, “Expand Your Horizon – EYH” involves a coalition of global and regional entities, from growth industries, focused on showcasing employment best practices, fostering entrepreneurship and offering opportunities in the job market across the MENA region.

 The “EYH” program will provide information about these key growth sectors with an aim to empower youth to make more informed decisions about their future career paths and to steer them towards viable work experience opportunities.
