Marayam Addou – Innovation and Creativity Award

Moroccan director Maryam Addou was named the winner of the Innovation and Creativity Award for her documentary ‘Sela Pirates’ with British director Rosa Rogers. The film deals with the hard-to-come-by opportunities made available at the National Circus Academy in rural Morocco at a time of near non-existent employment opportunities.

MBC Hope has announced the names of the winners of its first ‘Doing Good’ competition, launched by the Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR Division of MBC Group.

Moroccan director Maryam Addou was named the winner of the Innovation and Creativity Award for her documentary ‘Sela Pirates’ with British director Rosa Rogers. The film deals with the hard-to-come-by opportunities made available at the National Circus Academy in rural Morocco at a time of near non-existent employment opportunities.

Maryam stated that the initiative by MBC Hope is a real chance to realize youth projects and bring them ‘out of the dark’, finally giving them the prospect to prove themselves.

The Moroccan winner received a prize of SAR 100,000 which she says will help cover some of the post-production costs of her winning film.
