Today marks the 12th. Anniversary of the launch of “Al Arabiya” News Channel. I still remember that day, on March 3rd. 2003, with all its opportunities and challenges, including wars and dangers of all sorts… coupled with restless work on our end and extensive preparations; anticipation and enthusiasm… but, mostly optimism and hope.

Despite my deep conviction, at the time, of the inevitable success of the newborn channel, I did not expect the unprecedented success that was achieved by the channel and its brilliant team to-date.

Within such a relatively short span, the Network successfully outperformed its competitors in the MENA region and gained viewers’ loyalty coupled with the confidence of local, regional and multinational advertisers.

Needless to say that this would have not been possible without God’s blessing; and the hard work, time, effort and dedication of all of you.

I cannot but recall with pride and grief, our fallen colleagues, whom we have lost in the line of duty, as I remember their enthusiasm, dedication and determination to succeed… all of which remain a source of inspiration to drive us forward.

The past 12 years have been filled with major events and developments, all of which have been reflected through y/our channel, via exclusive interviews, special coverage, documentary films, breaking news in politics and business, among others.

As you are all aware, the last couple of years came with a different “spring” flavor to our news operations. You were all a strong part of it, with exceptional determination and rigueur.

And because every ship that reaches a safe shore owes primarily it to its captain, I reiterate, both on your behalf and mine, my warm greetings to our colleague Turki Al-Dakhil, who took over the helm from his predecessor, H.E. Dr. Adel Altoraifi, who in turn succeeded Abdulrahman Alrashid, the GM who sailed the ship to many safe destinations and series of successes, for a whole decade.

On this occasion, I reiterate my strong belief in Turki Al-Dakhil’s abilities -  and in all of yours - to continue leading “Al Arabiya” towards a new era of success.

Sincere congratulations to all of you, with my gratitude and appreciation.
