The all-encompassing, all-singing, international phenomenon global talent spotting show “The X Factor” was officially launched with a star-studded jury and one very exciting show stopping celebrity performance by “Little Mix” (season 8 winners of the show in the UK). The program is set to launch on MBC4 & MBC MASR with a big bang.
Celebrity judges Ragheb Alama, Elissa and Donia Samir Ghanem were joined by 2011’s UK winners of “The X Factor”- best girl band, “Little Mix”, at the official press conference to launch the program, in Dubai, at Jumeirah Beach Hotel.
The press conference included members of the local & regional press and was led by MBC Group’s official spokesperson Mazen Hayek, addressing details of the program and its nature.
Hayek started the conference stating: “The show is certainly looking for talents with great voices, however that is certainly not the only determining factor, as other attributes play a major role, such as, and not limited to; charisma, look & feel, wittiness and overall presence; in addition to the constants’ ability to influence the jury and viewers at home alike”.
In fact, it is accurate to say that “The X Factor” is similar to having 3 competitions in 1, whereby the contestants compete on three different level and categories: (1) Groups; (2) Solo Arabic; and (3) Solo International.
In addition, there is merit and accuracy in saying that “The X Factor” is further different than other talent spotting shows in that its contestants and viewers belong to a wider age group, from 8-80 years old, while the show depends on the personality-base of the contestants’ for its major success.
As for the celebrity judges, their roles are not only limited to granting the talents qualification or exclusion cards during the auditions phase, but also extends to the “4 chair challenge” and LIVE phase; the judges play the inspiring roles of closely observing the contestants’ performance development and character evolution on stage up until the live performance, where the audience becomes the judge with their public votes.
During the conference, Ragheb Alama stated: “I am extremely proud to be back with MBC as part of this program; we made an extraordinary effort as a judging committee during the auditions phase and I hope that is reflected clearly on screen”.
Whereas Elissa said: “The chemistry between us- as jury members- was exceptional and will undoubtedly be echoed on screen”. She further added: “I consider myself being part of “The X Factor” for the first time through MBC and its millions of viewers. We promise you all a very exciting season”.
From her part, Donia Samir Ghanem said: “I was conservative at the beginning about my participation in the program until I was extensively briefed about its nature, and that I was going to be sided by two celebrity judges. It was then that I made my final decision to be part of this remarkable program”.
It’s noteworthy to mention that the stars it creates also define the shows success. Previous winners in the British show have included Sam Bailey, James Arthur, Leona Lewis, Matt Cradle, Leon Jackson, Joseph Mack Dairi, Steve Broxtin, Little Mix, Shayne Ward. While previous American winners have included Alex and Sierra, Melanie Amaro and Tate Stevens.
